The events of Saturday continue to plague our minds. It struck a chord that runs deep in the fabric of our history. While many of us don’t think of prejudices as prevalent in today’s world, particularly in Indiana, they absolutely do exist here and elsewhere.
As Americans, we’re all blessed to be in a land of opportunity. But the opportunity that we have, without the rule of law or civility, can’t be as strong as our founders envisioned. There’s no reason to, little by little, throw away the blessings we have just because others don’t look or feel like us.
I strongly condemn racism and intolerance.
And I strongly condemn the actions that encouraged and created the tragic events in Charlottesville.
