The field for the Republican nomination in next year’s U.S. Senate election in Indiana has grown to three.
Andrew Takami, director of Purdue Polytechnic New Albany, a branch of Purdue University, recently announced his candidacy for the seat held by Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind.
Takami joins Kokomo attorney Mark Hurt and Hamilton County businessman Terry Henderson as announced Senate candidates in the 2018 Republican primary election. U.S. Reps. Luke Messer and Todd Rokita are considering running.
Takami, 37, is a former executive director of college advancement at Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana in Sellersburg and a former manager of alumni affairs and special events at Indiana University Southeast.
